Things to do in Melbourne

Have a looong walk along the DFO South Warf
Hang out in one of the many parks or gardens around Melbourne. The St Kilda Botanical Garden where this photo is from is really nice and beautiful

Visit Half Moon Bay Beach and have a little hike on the cliffs

If you’re lucky to be in Melbourne during Australian Open – do it!
We spent another day just sitting outside the AO area on a hill, where we could enjoy a beautiful sunset, drinks and watch games on the big screen
Go see the bathing boxes on Brighton beach – maybe not on a warm and sunny day, where the beach is FULL of people and its almost impossible to get a nice picture of the boxes
Visit Luna park in St Kilda for a fun and cozy evening. Its a small park, but its worth it!
Enjoy a beautiful sunset in St Kilda. The bar Lona seen in the picture is definitely also worth a visit. They have a lovely “garden” bar in the back
Visit one of the maaaany free festivals during the Summer. Here we are at the Latin Festival in St Kilda behind Luna Park. Just before that we went to a Japanese Festival festival at Federation Square in CBD. Another time there was a big festival at St Kilda Shore where a lot of acts were given on the stages.
Visit the Pink Lake in Port Melbourne. The area that its located within is super sad though, very industrial and the highway is just behind it. The water itself is pretty spectacular – and so is the smell…. (very eggy)
Enjoy a nice concert at the beautiful Sidney Myer Music Bowl, sitting on a hill with drinks and friends.
Watch the penguins come to shore on St Kilda Pier after sunset! I won’t even bother posting a picture of a penguin, because all the pictures I got the handful of times I was there were super bad. So go see them for yourself – much better anyways!

Get out of Melbourne and go on a tour to Yarra Valley. Try not to get as drunk as on girl who was on our tour and had her boyfriend stop the driver on the way back, because she had some business to do outside. I think she had her fun though!

Enjoy some of the beautiful street art around the suburbs. Especially in Fitzroy there is a lot to find.

Again, if you wanna get out of busy and buzzy Melbourne just for a day, drive to Mornington Peninsula and enjoy the QUIETNESS! Also here they have beautiful bathing boxes. We really enjoyed having the beach all to ourselves and eating chips at the harper with the sound of nothing but the seagulls

If you wanna experience some Aussie culture, then go see a Footie Game. Paul thought it was fun, I didn’t.

I can’t say enough how much you have to go to St Kilda Beach (or any other part of the southern suburbs beach), sit down, have a beer and enjoy the sunset

Find one of the many BBQ spots around town and enjoy a niceee BBQ dinner

You could also have your car breakdown just outside of Geelong and stay there for 4 nights. They have a nice foreshore, thats for sure!

Go to an exhibition in either The Royal Exhibition Building or Melbourne Exhibition centre. Pictured here is an exhibition in the making, since Paul worked for a company that did the exhibition setups.

Visit the Royal Botanical Garden. You can walk around here for at least a couple of hours and have a nice coffee and cake just by this lake where there is a café/restaurant is located. Its a nice place to go by yourself, in case you get a little impatient and mad with your partner, because he is WAAAY to slow and you wanna leave ASAP.

Another place to visit for a lovely sunset or just before your visit to the Royal Botanical Garden, is the Shrine of Remembrance.

I hope you have gotten a better idea of what to do in Melbourne now! I for sure become a bit nostalgic, sitting here looking at all these old pictures again. Damn, we did have a good time in Melbourne – thats for sure!
